In 1991 Dave Metty moved from Detroit to San Francisco to pursue a career in skateboarding, film production and making music. Within 3 weeks, Dave became an amateur skateboarder for REAL Skateboards. After a summer working at the Element YMCA Skatecamp, Dave discovered his passion for working with youth and has since produced action sports videos for Element Skateboards, Element YMCA Skate Camp, Woodward Action Sports Camp, FUEL TV and First Step Instructional Skateboarding. He is also the co-founder of icelounge.com.

Today, Dave is the Director of the Element YMCA Skate Camp where he developed a video production training program used by some of the most prominent names in skateboard videography. He is President of the Academy of Skateboarding and serves as a judge for professional skateboarding contests including X Games, Gravity Games, LG Action Sports Championships and VANS Triple Crown Series.
