Dr. Carl Owens is currently Professor and Director of Instructional Technology in the College of Education at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee. His love of teaching and the integration of technology into the teaching and learning process has been a passion of his for the last 26 years. He has presented at numerous state, regional and national technology conferences including NECC, FETC, NSBA, EDUCAUSE, ITTE, League for Innovation and T+L. His topics are specifically targeted to teachers and students on digital content creation in the classroom.

Carl recently completed a three-year, $854,000 grant specifically designed to bring technology to rural educators and manages a $1 million dollar endowment for technology in the College of Education at Tennessee Tech. Other responsibilities at the university include serving as Coordinator of the Learning Resources Center. The LRC provides support to teacher education candidates and faculty in the College.

Carl has served as an Apple Distinguished Educator since 1998.

At 48, he has finally figured out that there is time for the important things in his life.
