Course Description
This in-depth class will help you master video compression. The course covers all major formats and areas where compressed video is used, including web video, DVD and HD. You’ll learn about the wide variety of editing tools available today, including Expression Media Encoder, Sorenson Squeeze, Telestream Episode, On2 Flix, Canopus ProCoder, Rhozet Carbon and CineVision PSE. We’ll also discuss key aspects of the compressed video process, including optimized production and editing techniques for high-quality compression, preprocessing, automation and designing efficient workflows for high-volume projects. Each student will have both a Mac and Windows workstation with the latest versions of all the video compression tools and codecs installed. Students are encouraged to bring their own projects and footage from work or home.
