Course Overview
For most of us, Dreamweaver and Flash are those oh-so-exciting programs we've seldom used due to their oh-so-intimidating learning curves. All that changes this summer with Web Design II with Dreamweaver & Flash.
NOTE: This course differs from those of the same title at other DMA locations as it will focus far less on Dreamweaver CS3 and far more on Flash CS3. We'll begin with a review of Website management using Dreamweaver to get everyone up to speed -- especially those who've snuck in without any Dreamweaver experience ;). We'll be using Dreamweaver to manage our sites during the week but we'll be using Flash for interactivity and content creation.
Once you master the fundamentals of site management with Dreamweaver, we'll dive into Flash using a revolutionary new method of building interactive, multimedia Websites. Utilizing this simplified workflow, you'll focus on the projects you want to build rather than on the programs themselves. Create your own project: an online portfolio, a creative photo essay, a business promotional site, a personal blog, or even a makeover for an existing Website. Or, for educators, learn to teach your own students Dreamweaver and Flash using this same methodology.
Your instructor's video tutorials are legendary. Click here to view comments from individuals around the world who've learned software via Mike Skocko's video tutorials. And remember that these emails were written before this new, simplified approach for Dreamweaver and Flash CS3 was developed.
On day one you'll learn the secret of controlling interactivity using a simple set of techniques that you'll be able to customize and harness to bring your personal visions to life. Master this skill-set and complex interactivity becomes child's play.
Each of the following days are dedicated to learning new skills in the morning and putting those skills to work in the afternoon. Though the instructor will provide you with resources with which to build projects, you are encouraged to bring your own ideas, images, and other content you'd like to work with. Bring plans for the project you'd like to build and make it happen with instructor guidance during this hands-on, total immersion course.
If you'd like additional one-on-one training, come to the lab bright and early as the instructor will be available at 7 a.m. each morning just for you.
Attendees will receive hundreds of narrated video tutorials containing the entire week's curriculum as well as additional lessons and techniques we'll not have time to cover during the week.
Prerequisites
Upon entering Dreamweaver II, you are expected to know some web
fundamentals: saving GIFs and JPGs, basic HTML tags, inserting images
and text, creating links, basic tables and uploading files to a
server. All students who have an interest in this course are
encouraged to register. Students are invited to contact the DMA office
with any questions regarding readiness.
DMA's Recommended Multiweek /Multicourse Programs
Summer 2007
Our courses are built around the weeklong immersion format and can be taken in multiweek tracks. DMA's multiweek/multicourse tracks allow you to gain a great deal of knowledge and skills in a particular topic and progress from beginning to advanced levels. The suggested programs below are just some of the many course combinations that are available. Please note all of the multicourse programs listed are available at Stanford.
