We’re proud to be announcing new university campus locations for Digital Media Academy’s 2016 summer tech camp season!

It’s a fantastic bunch of universities and colleges, representing both coasts and cool schools in between. Check ’em out:

Duke University

Duke produces super-achievers like Apple’s Tim Cook, here using an Apple Watch to track college sports’ hottest rivalry.

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Local Feature: Duke is such a sports powerhouse it’s easy to forget that it’s also a leader academically, ranking in the top ten of all American universities. Also known for its part in the hottest rivalry in college sports: Duke versus UNC, a basketball feud that’s gone on for a century and impacted millions of lives.

Occidental College

Griffith Observatory not only gives you an ideal view of the famous Hollywood sign. It was also one of the shooting locations for the legendary 1955 James Dean classic, Rebel Without a Cause.

Location: Los Angeles, California (Eagle Rock section)
Local Feature: Lots of movies get shot on campus, including Star Trek III: The Search for Spock. And Occidental has some pretty distinguished alumni, including President Barack Obama, who studied here between 1979 and 1981.

St. Mary’s of California

Thanks to its swimming pool and sprinklered ceiling, San Francisco’s Tonga Room is able to stage hourly indoor thunderstorms, with appropriate thunder SFX.

Location: Morago, California
Local Feature: Nearby San Francisco. While there, make time for the Tonga Room. It “rains” inside the Tonga Room each hour and features musical acts that perform inside a boat that’s stationed in the middle of a swimming pool. Fun!

Stony Brook University

At Jackson Pollack’s home/studio on Long Island, visitors are given booties to cover their feet, allowing them then to walk over the same studio floor where the great action painter splattered his paints.

Location: Stony Brook, Long Island, New York
Local Feature:The grand palaces of the ultra-rich along the North Shore’s “Gold Coast” inspired F. Scott Fitzgerald’s classic The Great Gatsby. Also, in this area, the first lunar module was constructed.

University of Denver

Drive Mt. Evans road near the DU campus and you may see mountain goats. At 14,230 feet, it’s the highest paved road in North America.

Location: Denver, Colorado (University Neighborhood)
Coolest Fact: Local attraction Mt. Evans is home to the second-highest telescope in the world, as well as the highest paved road in North America. How high up is it? So high you may encounter mountain goats!

University of Houston

Ever wanted to climb aboard a space shuttle? Now’s your chance…at Space Center Houston.

Location: Houston, Texas
Coolest Fact: Houston’s the place for space. Space Center Houston is the gateway to NASA’s Johnson Space Center and is overflowing with super-cool exhibits and activities, like a Space Shuttle you can board and explore. (Sometimes you can even have lunch with an actual astronaut!)

University of Pennsylvania

American Founding Father Ben Franklin was also the founder of the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a brilliant scientist and inventor.

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Coolest Fact: The steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art are the same ones that were triumphantly ascended by Sylvester Stallone during four of the five Rocky movies. Visitors are often seen replicating the boxer’s run up the steps, complete with raised fists once they’ve reached the top.
