Program Assistant – Global Innovation Race 2024
Digital Media Academy’s Global Innovation Race is a premier program that ignites creativity and innovation in students from around the world by immersing them in a dynamic, AI-powered learning experience. Our program attracts students who want to design solutions that tackle global challenges using human-centered design thinking and cutting-edge technology.
As a Program Assistant for the Global Innovation Race 2024, you will have the opportunity to support the Program Director in leading a world-class program that inspires and empowers the next generation of global innovators, while collaborating with leading Stanford-affiliated educators and industry experts.
Job Type: Full-time, in-person (July 17-27) in Stanford/Menlo Park, California
Salary: Commensurate with experience, $22 USD/hr
What you will be responsible for:
- Assisting the Program Director in the day-to-day smooth operations, including curricular learning activities, group supervision and transportation, communications, and classroom technology.
- Under the direction of Glenn Fajardo, Stanford d.School Educator, deliver a world-class learning experience that combines human-centered design thinking and AI-powered solutions.
- Supporting and mentoring student groups in the development of innovative solutions to global challenges using cutting-edge technology.
- Assisting in cultivating an inclusive, fun, and engaging learning environment that promotes creativity, critical thinking, and teamwork. This includes organizing and facilitating social activities and interacting with students during breaks and lunch.
- Providing excellent customer service and communication to students, parents, group chaperones, and program partners.
- Liaise with external vendors, suppliers, and partners as needed for program-related activities.
- Supporting the DMA Marketing Team with the collection of real-time learning throughout the program.
Who you are:
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as Design Thinking, STEAM education, entrepreneurship and innovation, or technology.
- You have prior experience in a summer camp environment or educational leadership, preferably in a STEAM-related field.
- You have experience working with students aged 13-17 years from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- You have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
- You have a passion for education, innovation, and social impact, with a desire to empower the next generation of global leaders.
- You are authorized to work in the state of California, United States.
Position requirements and commitments:
- Able to work full-time on-site from July 17-27, 2024 in the Stanford/Menlo, California area.
- Able to attend on-site training at Stanford University on July 16th, 2024.
- Optional accommodation at Menlo College during the program’s duration.
- Optional breakfast and dinner during the program’s duration.
- Flexible with work hours, as the position will require overseeing evening activities and weekend excursions.
- The selected candidate must undergo a Fingerprint Criminal Records Check and complete all compensated pre-program training and onboarding, including CPR certification, Child Safeguarding, and virtual On-site Training.

Residency Coordinator – Global Innovation Race 2024
Digital Media Academy’s Global Innovation Race is a premier program that ignites creativity and innovation in students from around the world by immersing them in a dynamic, AI-powered learning experience. Our program attracts students who want to design solutions that tackle global challenges using human-centered design thinking and cutting-edge technology.
As a Residency Coordinator, you will lead the charge in cultivating an environment where students can build relationships and feel at home during their accommodations at Menlo College. You will oversee a team of Residency Assistants, empowering them to provide exceptional support to participants. Your main focus will be on ensuring student safety while fostering meaningful social interaction and extended learning opportunities from 5-10 pm and 7-10 am.
Job Type: Full-time, in-person (July 17-27) in Stanford/Menlo Park, California
Salary: Commensurate with experience, $28 USD/hr
What you will be responsible for:
- Overseeing the Residency Team to ensure a smooth and successful evening residency experience for participating students, chaperones, and other staff members during Global Innovation Race.
- Being the first point of contact during the hours of 5-10 pm and 7-10am during the duration of the program. This includes emergency on-call through the evening as required.
- Collaborating closely with the Menlo College accommodation staff to ensure that students have a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable living experience, addressing any accommodation-related issues promptly and effectively.
- Following and upholding all Digital Media Academy policies and procedures related to child protection and safeguarding while at Global Innovation Race.
- Fostering a vibrant community atmosphere among students, chaperones, and staff, ensuring inclusivity and support while overseeing the execution of evening social activities. These may include fireside chats, team-building exercises, and other social events to empower students to develop their relationship-building skills and forge lasting connections.
- Working with the Program Director to coordinate all individual/group arrivals, check-ins, and departures to/from Menlo College.
- Working with the Residency Team to ensure daily transportation to and from Stanford University and other related program sites is conducted timely and efficiently.
- Delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining open lines of communication with students, parents, and program partners, promptly addressing any inquiries or concerns that may arise.
- Providing support and guidance to students in navigating social dynamics and resolving conflicts, promoting a positive and inclusive community atmosphere.
- Facilitating clear and effective communication among program staff and group chaperones, promoting a collaborative and supportive work environment conducive to achieving program goals and objectives.
Who you are:
- You have prior leadership experience to effectively supervise and guide a team of residency assistants.
- You have experience working with students aged 13-17 years from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- You have excellent organizational abilities to oversee various aspects of the program, from accommodations to social activities.
- You have a passion for education, innovation, and social impact, with a desire to empower the next generation of global leaders.
- You have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as has Empathy and compassion to support students and address their needs effectively.
- You are authorized to work in the state of California, United States.

Your responsibilities will focus on safeguarding and enhancing social interaction during critical hours from roughly 5-10 pm and 7-10 am. This includes ensuring students’ safety and well-being while fostering opportunities for meaningful engagement. Your proactive approach ensures students have the support and resources necessary to thrive during their immersive learning experience.
